Today, a very nice holiday here. In the early morning, i was setup a new forum website at ixwebhosting hosting server, and setup a new email account as well. Finally the vbulletin forum and the email is setup and running.
When i using outlook express to connect to Ixwebhosting email pop3 account. I keep getting the “authentication failure” error from outlook. I relogin to ixwebhosting manager, and change the email password. And check with outlook express settings. Both are correct, webmail can access the emails. But outlook still can’t connect to mail server.
After tired of trying, i visited ixwebhosting homepage, and started live chat with technical support. The live chat took almost 10 minutes. Because the support personal is helping by setup outlook at his machine. 
.. first time in history, actually the support team is simulation the scenario, just to help me solved the problem. Here is the chat session:

He can get connected. But me can’t. Strange problem indeed.
ok, i got the last secrete weapon of my own. restarted windows, and login to outlook express. wahlaa… its connected, and email downloaded. No more error.
I should give 5 out of 5 to rajshree.

IXWebhosting sucks.
I have had nothing but trouble with their e-mail system.
Occasionally and without warning it will just stop sending my mail. Sometimes they will go through after several days, but usually the mail just gets sucked into the ether, never to be seen again.
Their Ukranian help chat was worthless and the guy on phone support flat-out lied to me, thinking I didn’t know what I was doing.
Excuses, excuses, excuses. Time to find a new company!

commonly shared hosting is usually having problem here and there, cause there are many users/websites in the same server, and there are custom scripts/php that uses the mail sending feature… this might causing the server process to get hang etc. What i usually do when found problem on website or database or even at email (which is odd for email problem).. is to reach out ixwebhosting support live chat, notify them of the problem.. and even requesting them to restart the http process, or database process or email process. Once they do this, the site will be running normally.

This is an issue with the way they handle the php settings.
Make sure to create a ticket and ask them about it. They will do it for you, or send you a file to insert on your site root folder.
