Thx. Not sure how this forum works exactly. Do you work for IX Webhosting? How come I can get some php to run such as the WP install and wp-admin/index.php when I specifically put in the full URL?

Cheers,
Mike

I have just set-up wordpress 2.6 on my IX webhosting windows account and do not have the latest IX webhosting cpanel. I did the ws-config.php changes and changed the host name etc and was able to get through the install cleanly and have a dba user assigned to the database.

Now when I go to create a new entry I get a message 'Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed', when I try to navigate to other pages in the blog, post a new entry, or any time I try to go to the wp-admin/index.php it seems to exclude the index.php in the linkage. Is this a parameter I need to set on the site as I can't find it. I changed the indexing option in cpanel on the global settings to ON and now I get a listing of the directory but no correct navigation. Looking at ws-install.php it has the sub-directory I set the wordpress software up in defined correctly.

Any assistance appreciated.

Kaltura info on wordpress

I was use ixwebhosting over 10 years now.

No problem on installation for wordpress, but when installing Kaltura video system its have problem to upload videos or files or even there is no kaltura I was have similar problem for uploading files.

I was figure it out how its uploading video files. First its say "file is too large max size is 2M" or something similar. Or if you dont have php.ini file i dont know what its say, but if you do have it its says that. Then when you make it larger by modify on file, its just simply say same but now on new size, and its can not upload file.

First, go on fpt for you domain, see on cgi-bin folder, add there php.ini. You can ask them to make that file what originally its not there, but faster and easier is to download it from my website. Problem is on php.ini file what you need modify you self. This allow site downloading larger files, and now you are able to use flash uploader on you new post for video.

After you place proper php.ini file on that folder all works well, and you can add videos to kaltura. If anyone have similar problem this is solution for it.

hi sunil.. for database connection issue...
ixwebhosting database is not using 'localhost'....
they are using dedicated/remote mysql database server... for example.. they are using 'mysql303.ixwebhosting.com'... get to your mysql database section.. you can view what is the server name you should be using.

if previously you can connect to database, but now you seeing the error connection to database, its due to mysql database downtime. you should contact ix support for this. Yesterday i having some downtime for CP7 server database... support said its some hardware problem and undergoing server maintenance.

hi sunil,

when creating new mysql database in hsphere, and when you create and add new user, you need to add this user to your database, assign role 'dba'... by selecting the dropdown box.

once you do this, this user will have the privilage to update anything for this database. thus you will not get this error again.

Please Help

Now I get this message:

Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
If you're unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

here is a small preinstallation check list. Make sure you are using the linux php hosting with ixwebhosting, and already setup the mysql database.

you can view the detailed installation guide for wordpress at here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress
