However, its my own habit that makes me to do extra backup at my local computer as well. Its always felt safe to have extra copy with me, that i can used to restore back to previous system when i need it. At the ix h-phere control panel, i try to look for the backup feature, but i really can’t find it. The system is designed to self backup, and unlike cpanel, usually i have to download the zip archieve and store at local PC. At here, there is no such needs. I don’t think this is sucks, it save me lots of works if the backup is automatic done by ix hosting side.
To manually backup my websites, i need to backup the web server through ftp login. Usually i will download to local drive and zip it up. Other than files i will backup the mysql database as well. To do this login to control panel, and go to the phpmyadmin. This will launch the phpmyadmin at new windows. Go to EXPORT, and select all the databases, select save as file. And click the ‘GO’ button. PhpMyAdmin will script out the whole database and you can save the .sql file in local drive. This will be database raw data. You can use this to restore back your database, or use this if you need to migrate database to other server for example.
Bottom line is that IX hosting with custom control panel, and custom daily backup system will handle all your backup need. When you need to restore back to previous image of your hosting accoun/files. Contact with IX support team to get the backup copy reversed back to system.
