This ixwebhosting review blog was hosted at ixwebhosting.com hosting since 18 April 2007. Its more than 2 months now. So far hosting with ix hosting is quit smooth. Although there is small downtime due to their datacentre upgrade work. From the pass 2 months, i been subscribed to ix business package that allow me to host up to 8 domain/website. Currently i having 6 websites hosted here, and each of them is having own private IP address. I still got 2 slot available and need to spend some little time to develop the new site when i am free.
I run a vbulletin forum at here as well, and other five websites is a blog. So, each of them is using mysql database and some email resources. So far there is not much problem, and basically is settings that i need to customised for my websites. Lately i spend some time on the forum site, and also uploaded new wordpress theme to all my blogs hosted here, and also update the wordpress to latest version 2.2.1 which have more bugs fixed.
Seem like lots of ftp uploading works from the pass weekend, and maintaining 6 websites here, which is quit large in size is not a easy job. Thanks to the good ftp connection and fast ftp, i still manage to complete the upgrading work. Still got some times to spend with family and friends during the whole weekend.

Ix hosting is the little few hosting company that perform daily backup of your websites. Here is the line that i got from their policies term “We perform daily on-site backup via our own custom-made backup solution. “. This meaning the backup is handle by ix hosting side.
However, its my own habit that makes me to do extra backup at my local computer as well. Its always felt safe to have extra copy with me, that i can used to restore back to previous system when i need it. At the ix h-phere control panel, i try to look for the backup feature, but i really can’t find it. The system is designed to self backup, and unlike cpanel, usually i have to download the zip archieve and store at local PC. At here, there is no such needs. I don’t think this is sucks, it save me lots of works if the backup is automatic done by ix hosting side.
To manually backup my websites, i need to backup the web server through ftp login. Usually i will download to local drive and zip it up. Other than files i will backup the mysql database as well. To do this login to control panel, and go to the phpmyadmin. This will launch the phpmyadmin at new windows. Go to EXPORT, and select all the databases, select save as file. And click the ‘GO’ button. PhpMyAdmin will script out the whole database and you can save the .sql file in local drive. This will be database raw data. You can use this to restore back your database, or use this if you need to migrate database to other server for example.
Bottom line is that IX hosting with custom control panel, and custom daily backup system will handle all your backup need. When you need to restore back to previous image of your hosting accoun/files. Contact with IX support team to get the backup copy reversed back to system.

Another trip to ixwebhosting H-SPFERE control panel today, and i found a interesting section named “Tools”.. and in this section is few of useful tools that are: sitestudio, webshell3, stat, submit url, reverse traceroute.
